Viber's notification symbol (purple in color when your phone's internet connection is active and grey when it's inactive) could be seen in your phone's status bar even when you're not using viber.
Follow the below steps if you want to remove this notification:
- Open Viber and click on "More" at the bottom right corner of the screen.
- Choose Settings in the following menu.
- In the Settings menu, turn off the option"Show Viber status icon".
In some phones, you might have to try twice for this setting to get activated.
This just happened a few days ago. I tried changing the settings but it did not work. I turned the phone off and back on. So far, it has not reappeared.
